In China, civil war broke out when the augments gained control over the northern districts. While parts of the Chinese army defected to the augments, most of them remained under control of the Chinese Communist Party. In order to help their augment friends in the surrounded Peking, India and Pakistan declared war against China, sending troops into the adjacent Chinese districts.
This triggered a chain reaction. Eugenic leaders in Algeria felt encouraged to send troops into Morocco and Egypt in September 2049, helping their struggling eugenic allies who hadn’t had that much success in gaining control. This provoked France and Great Britain to declare war on Algeria. When the first battalions of French soldiers arrived in Morocco to support Moroccan military, Mirza Iqbal decided to launch an ICBM against Paris in order to force Europe to stay out of the war. The missile was, however, intercepted by the joint US-European-Israeli-missile-defence-system and provoked almost all former NATO-members to declare war on India and its allies until Christmas 2049.
Europe and Asia saw the most severe fighting of the whole war. In January 2050, combined troops of China, India, Kazakhstan and Pakistan overran Siberia, Mongolia, Kirgizia, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. Afterwards, they proclaimed the Eastern Coalition. Khan’s battalions saw their first defeat when they tried to invade Afghanistan. There, they met heavy resistance from fighters with support from Arabia and Iran. By the end of 2052, Eugenic advances had almost come to a halt. With the support of European troops, the Russian army was able to stop Kazakhstani military before they could occupy Novosibirsk. When the Eastern Coalition realized that they would not be able to take Novosibirsk, Iqbal again launched a nuclear missile and eradicated Novosibirsk. As this led to the forming of the Republic of Great-Iran and an alliance that should later become the Confraternity of Caucasus, tensions between the leaders of the Eastern Coalition arose. Khan and his brethren felt that using excessive violence rather than skilled tactics would only unite their enemies. Iqbal argued that Russia had started the nuclear conflict and deserved to be punished. As Khan considered Iqbal more and more a threat to augment interests, he had him killed by those operatives that were once supposed to save Iqbal should it ever be necessary. The death of Iqbal in 2052 caused a civil war in India as democratic movements tried to use the chance of the dictator’s death to regain control. Adjacent Chinese districts and parts of Kazakhstan joined the war and began fighting their eugenic leaders. In January 2053, a combined army of German, Turkish, Polish, Russian and Israeli troops joined an Iranian army engaged at the border to Pakistan. Together, they managed to break resistance and were able to set foot on the territory of Khan’s empire. Realizing the bad development, Khan gathered his most loyal augments around him and headed for the launching sites of the Indian ISA-division. They boarded a rocket and reached the DY-complex in space despite two attempts to intercept the rocket. There they managed to get the S.S. Botany Bay working and left the Solar System.
With most of their eugenic leaders gone and civil wars spreading, the dictatorships crumbled within weeks. The joint forces reached the Chinese Sea in September 2053 and the war effectively ended by then.
